Frederik George Frederiksen
OROFINO, Idaho - Frederik George Frederiksen, 92, Orofino, died Monday following a stroke.
Mr. Frederiksen came to the United States in 1909 from Copenhagen, Denmark, with his wife Jorgine Olsen whom he had married in 1898. He was born Aug. 28, 1874, at Copenhagen.
The Frederiksen’s came to Peck in August 1909, then moved to Teakean where they farmed. Mrs. Frederiksen died in 1916. He continued to farm at Teakean for Several years, retired in 1945 and moved to Ahsahka. In 1957, he moved to Orofino to live with his son, Chris, and daughter-in-law.
Survivors include his son, a brother Torvold, Copenhagen; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral is scheduled tomorrow at 10 a.m. at Gilbert’s Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Ray L. Whitlow, pastor of the Orofino Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Teakean Cemetery.

Final Rites Conducted for George Frederiksen
OROFINO - The funeral for George Frederiksen, 92, Teakean farmer who died Sunday morning at Orofino, was at 10 a.m. Thursday at Gilbert’s Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Ray Whitlow, pastor of the Orofino Methodist Church, officiated.
Pallbearers were Alden Carey, Frank Carey, Walter Huffman, Lowell Huffman, Jack Lansing and Schuyler Carey, all of Cavendish. Burial was at Teakean Cemetery.

Swim Postponed But No Alligators In Clearwater
Orofino - George Frederiksen, who recalled that he postponed a swim once in 1909 in the Clearwater River because of the fear of his wife that it might have alligators in it, celebrated his 87th birthday Monday at a family dinner.
He is the father of Sheriff Chris A. Frederiksen of Orofino, the only surviving child of three.
Mr. Frederiksen was born Aug. 28, 1874, near Copenhagen, Denmark. He was married to Georgine Olsen in 1898. She died in 1916.
"My wife had a bachelor uncle (Johan "John" Olsen) who encouraged us to come to the United States," he said. "He lived between Teakean and Cavendish. In 1909, we came to the United States and arrived at Peck Aug. 2, 1909.
"I remember that day it was so hot, I wanted to go for a swim in the Clearwater River. Not knowing the country or what animals you have and didn't have, my wife was afraid there might be alligators in the river and asked me not to swim. I might add, I didn't swim that day--but did later."
Frederiksen farmed near Teakean until his retirement in 1941. He crushed both heel bones four years ago when he jumped from a ladder that fell as he was tearing shingles from his house preparatory to re-shingling it. He was in a cast six months.
However, today he is always hiking in a hurry on any errand --so much so that his family has tried to get him to slow down. His reply:
"I don't want people to think I'm getting old."
He was also surprised with a birthday cake and gifts at an early birthday party. Attending were State Patrolman and Mrs. Bert McGinnis, Police Chief and Mrs. William Philpot, Mrs. Floyd West and Mr. and Mrs. Ben McEvers.
